Starting in Nairobi, you’ll journey north to Samburu Game Reserve to witness unique species like Grevy’s zebras and reticulated giraffes along the Ewaso Nyiro River, then visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy to encounter endangered black rhinos and Kenya’s only chimpanzee sanctuary. Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its birdlife and big cats, before reaching the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve, home to the Big Five and the awe-inspiring Great Migration. Itinerary

Day 01 :
Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met personally by our Airport Representative and then transferred to the city hotel for your overnight. Overnight stay at the Ibis Hotel.

Day 02 :
Nairobi-Samburu Game Reserve

You will check out after breakfast and drive to the spectacular Samburu region against the backdrop of the imposing Ol Olokwe Mountain and the waters of the great Ewaso Nyiro River that crosses three major northern reserves; Samburu, Buffalo Springs, and Shaba attract significant wildlife along its shores. The reserve is very popular with large herds of elephants, attracted by the presence of water. Lunch is served at the lodge. An evening game drive follows in search of elephants and lions. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the Samburu Lodge.

Day 03 :
Samburu Game Reserve

You will spend your morning and afternoon game drive in this beautiful reserve. Samburu, irrigated by the Ewaso Nyiro River, offers a sanctuary for herds of elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, reticulated giraffes, kudu, and gerenuks (long-necked gazelles). It is also one of the few reserves where it is possible to meet Gravy’s zebras. More than 100 species of birds are found there, and there are also Somali ostriches with blue legs. Dinner and overnight at the Samburu Sopa Lodge.

Day 04 :
Samburu Game Reserve- OI Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, you will depart and drive south to Nanyuki draped by only a snow-peaked mountain on the equator, Mount Kenya. Arriving for lunch at the Sweetwaters Serena. Later in the afternoon depart for an afternoon game drive. This region is home to many animals but is best known for its endangered species such as the Black Rhinoceros, the Grevys Zebra, and the wild dog. The Sweetwater’s private reserve is home to a fairly rich fauna: herbivores, Giraffes, Lions and Elephants are the main residents. This animal sanctuary is now known for hosting Kenya’s only chimpanzee family and the best place to come face to face with the rhinoceros that are accustomed to the human presence. Return for dinner and overnight at the Sweetwater SerenaCamp.

Day 05 :
Olpejeta Conservancy-Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, you will check-in and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. Arriving in time for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive, this park is famous for its large concentration of flamingos which feed on the algae, and is also a special nesting place for cormorants and pelicans. (Recently flamingoes have migrated to Lake Bogoria due to the high water level) The park also hosts Lions, giraffes, warthogs, leopards, and Antelopes. The flat-topped acacia and the candelabra cactus are a feature of the landscape. Return for dinner and overnight at the Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Day 06 :
Lake Nakuru National Park- Masai Mara

After breakfast, depart for Maasai Mara National Reserve which offers wonderful scenery and plenty of game enjoying views of beautiful landscape. You arrive at your camp in time for check followed by lunch. After lunch relax then have a late afternoon game drive. Look out for the Big Five! This reserve has hilly savanna, rolling grasslands, and gallery forest on the Mara River and its tributaries. The ‘big five’ are positively represented here. The large predators are the lion, leopard, and cheetah. The smaller predators are the hyena and jackal. The large herbivores are the elephant, rhino, zebra, hippo, buffalo, and giraffe. The smaller herbivores are the antelope and bucks. The Maasai ostrich, the world’s largest bird is found in the park. Return for dinner and overnight at the Enkorok Mara Camp.

Day 07 :
Masai Mara National Reserve

You will spend the entire day with morning and evening game viewing exploring this part of the Northern Serengeti Ecosystem where the great wildebeest migration takes place. Months before the actual migration the herds ‘assemble’ in Serengeti in readiness for the crossing into Maasai

Mara. The plain is covered with these animals. Grunts and other animal sounds are heard, and territorial fights are common. The migration, now declared the Seventh Wonder of the World takes place from the end of June to the beginning of September. Return for dinner and overnight at the Enkorok Mara Camp.

Day 08 :
Masai Mara National Park - Nairobi

After breakfast, you will depart Maasai Mara for Nairobi. If time allows, you will have a spectacular view from the top of the escarpment, this time with more familiar memories of the landscape. You will have a brief stopover at the Italian chapel, and then drive on to Nairobi arriving in the late afternoon.
