A gentle first safari for young families: hippo boat rides, cycling past zebras and rhinos at Lake Nakuru, with short drives.
Overview
Our Lake Naivasha family safari is built for families with young children. Driving times are short, the Rift Valley highlands are cooler than the coast, and the activities let children get out of the vehicle: a boat ride among hippos, a walk with giraffes on Crescent Island and cycling past zebras in Hell’s Gate.
The trip ends with a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya’s best places to see rhinos. It is a relaxed first safari, or a perfect warm-up before the Masai Mara or a beach holiday.
Best for: Family. Popular with: Families with young children from the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Best time: Year-round (school holidays).
Price is from USD 780 per adult sharing; the final cost depends on season, accommodation and group size.
