Why Choose Kenya Safari Packages from India?
Kenya is one of the most practical long-haul safari countries for Indian travellers. It sits across the Indian Ocean from Mumbai, it has a large and long-established Indian community, English is widely spoken, and the time difference is only two and a half hours (Kenya is UTC+3 and India is UTC+5:30). Kenya also drives on the left and uses the same UK-style three-pin plugs you may already own, so the practical details feel familiar.
More importantly, Kenya delivers what most guests come for. The Masai Mara safari offers some of the best big cat viewing in Africa and, from July to October, the Great Migration. An Amboseli safari puts elephant herds in front of Mount Kilimanjaro. Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Samburu add rhinos, flamingos, hippos and northern species, and the coast around Diani gives you a beach finish without leaving the country.
- Short or long: four days is enough for a first taste, and a week gives a proper Kenya safari.
- Private vehicles: your family or group travels alone with its own guide, so the pace and the stops are yours.
- Food you can plan: vegetarian, vegan and Jain needs can be passed to every camp in writing.
- One country, many trips: bush, beach and, if you wish, Zanzibar, are all in one booking.

Which of Our Kenya Safari Packages from India Suits You?
Families with children
The five-day Kenya Family Safari starts in Nairobi, adds Lake Naivasha and finishes in the Masai Mara, with shorter drives than a longer circuit. It is the family favourite among our Kenya safari packages from India, listed from USD 1,290 per person. Our Kenya family safari packages page explains family rooms and which activities have age limits.

Couples and honeymooners
Honeymooners choosing Kenya safari packages from India usually pick the four-day Masai Mara honeymoon safari from USD 1,900, or the ten-day Kenya and Zanzibar honeymoon from USD 3,650, which ends on the island. Our Kenya honeymoon safari page compares bush and beach options. Tell us the occasion when you enquire and we will pass it to the camps.

Groups and extended families
The six-day Kenya Group Safari from USD 1,390 and the seven-day Kenya Classic Group Safari from USD 1,650 suit friends, clubs and several generations travelling together. Groups booking Kenya safari packages from India travel in several vehicles, each with its own driver-guide and a window seat for every guest, and the per-person price falls as the group grows.
Senior travellers
Long road transfers can be tiring, so older guests on Kenya safari packages from India often prefer the six-day Gentle Fly-in Safari for Seniors, listed from USD 3,600, which replaces some driving with flights. Tell us about mobility, medication and the pace you want, and we will adjust rooms, vehicles and rest days.
Vegetarian, Vegan and Jain Food on a Kenya Safari
Food is the first question many Indian guests ask about Kenya safari packages from India, and the honest answer is that it works well with notice. Safari kitchens cook vegetarian meals every day, and many camps serve dal-style dishes, vegetable curries, rice, beans, chapati and fresh fruit. Remote camps are far from shops, so the chef plans supplies in advance, and variety is wider in larger lodges than in small bush camps.
- Vegetarian and eggetarian: straightforward when the camp is told at booking. Say whether you eat eggs, because breakfast often includes them.
- Vegan: manageable, but plant milk may not be stocked in remote camps.
- Jain: possible with advance notice, but meals may be simple in remote camps. We cannot promise a Jain-certified kitchen, and meat and vegetarian food may be cooked in the same space with separate pans.
- Snack bag: pack sealed, dry snacks from home as a back-up and check current customs guidance before you fly.
We send each camp a written dietary note and follow up before you arrive. Read our full guide to a vegetarian safari in Kenya for Jain notes, what to pack and where to eat Indian food in Nairobi, or tell us your needs on WhatsApp when you request a quote for Kenya safari packages from India.
Flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Nairobi
Flights are the next question for Kenya safari packages from India, and options change by season, so always check current schedules with the airline before you book. According to trade press, IndiGo launched daily non-stop Mumbai to Nairobi flights in August 2023, and the launch timetable showed a flight time of roughly six hours (source: Tourism Update). Air India also lists Nairobi fares from several Indian cities on its website, though we could not confirm from that page whether those flights are non-stop.
From Delhi you may need to connect, for example in Mumbai or at a Gulf or Ethiopian hub such as Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi or Addis Ababa. We have not verified which airlines operate which routes today, so use the airline sites or a flight search to compare. If your flight lands at night, sleep in Nairobi and start the safari the next morning. Our guides on whether to book flights or safari first and the budget Nairobi layover explain how to plan the gap.
Entry Requirements for Indian Passport Holders
Check the official rules before you book any of the Kenya safari packages from India, because they have changed in 2026.
- Kenya eTA: most visitors, including holders of ordinary Indian passports, need an approved Electronic Travel Authorisation before boarding. Apply only through the official portal at etakenya.go.ke. The fee is from USD 30 per person, depending on the type of application (check the portal for the current fee), and approval usually takes about three business days, so apply at least two weeks before you fly.
- Travel health insurance: from about 6 October 2026, non-Kenyans staying under 12 months need mandatory travel health insurance from an approved Kenyan insurer, with cover of at least USD 50,000 and a reported premium of about USD 44 per adult. Confirm the current rule on the official portal, and see our mandatory travel insurance guide and Kenya travel insurance guide.
- Yellow fever: the High Commission of India in Nairobi states that travellers arriving in India from Kenya must carry a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate, given at least ten days before travel. Rules for entering Kenya depend on where you travel from, so confirm with your airline and a travel clinic.
- Passport: carry a passport with plenty of validity and blank pages, plus your return ticket and booking confirmation.
Every Sense of Adventure trip includes AMREF Flying Doctors evacuation cover, described on our emergency evacuation cover page, but it does not replace your own travel insurance. For official tourism information see Magical Kenya.
Best Time for Kenya Safari Packages from India
Kenya has wildlife in every month, so the best time for Kenya safari packages from India depends on what you want to see and when your family can travel. The main Indian holiday windows are the summer school break, the Diwali period in October or November and the Christmas and New Year week. Exact school dates vary by state and board, so check your own calendar, and book early because Kenya’s busiest camps fill first.
- July to October: the Great Migration is usually in the Masai Mara. This is the busiest and most expensive season, and our Great Migration 2027 guide explains timing, which varies with the rains.
- January and February: hot, drier weather with good game viewing. See our Kenya safari in January guide.
- March to May: the long rains bring green landscapes, fewer visitors and lower rates, with some muddy roads.
- November and December: short rains and lush scenery, then a festive peak. Read our Kenya safari in December guide.
Kenya sits on the equator but much of the safari country is high, so mornings can be cold, especially from June to August, and afternoons are warm. Pack layers, a hat and sunscreen. Rain is most likely in April, May and November. Ask us for current conditions when you request your quote.
Money, Time Difference and Practical Tips
A few practical points for Indian guests on Kenya safari packages from India:
- Currency: Kenya uses the Kenyan shilling and many camps quote in US dollars. We suggest you carry some US dollars in cash and an international card, and some small shilling notes for tips. We cannot confirm that Indian UPI payments work in Kenya, so please do not rely on them and ask us if you need advice.
- Time difference: Kenya is 2.5 hours behind India, so noon in Mumbai is 9:30 am in Nairobi. Jet lag is mild.
- Phones: a local SIM or eSIM is usually cheaper than roaming. Ask your provider about Kenya packs.
- Plugs: UK-style three-pin sockets at 240 volts.
- Language: English and Swahili are widely spoken, so communication is easy.
