One group. Your own vehicles. A safari built around all of you.
A private group safari in Kenya means no strangers in your vehicle, no fixed departure dates and no compromises on pace. Tell us who is coming and our Nairobi team designs the trip around your group.
Request Group Safari RatesChat on WhatsAppA private group safari in Kenya is the most rewarding way to share Africa with the people who matter to you. Whether you are three generations of one family, a circle of old friends, a wedding party or a company team, Sense of Adventure plans every detail privately: your own 4×4 Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs, your own professional driver-guides, camps chosen for your group and a route that moves at your pace. We are a licensed tour operator based in Nairobi, so the people who plan your trip are the same people who run it on the ground.

Why a private group safari in Kenya beats a shared tour
Shared tours put you in a vehicle with travellers you have never met, on dates and routes someone else chose. That works for some people, but groups usually want something different. They want to stop when the youngest child spots a giraffe, linger at a lion sighting when the photographers in the group ask, and head back to camp when the grandparents are ready for lunch.
A private group trip gives you that freedom. You choose the travel dates. You choose the parks, the number of nights and the level of comfort. Your guide works only for your group, so game drives follow your interests rather than a fixed timetable. And because the whole group travels together from arrival to departure, the shared moments become the memories everyone talks about for years.
- Your dates, not ours: travel when your group is free, including school holidays and long weekends.
- Your pace: early starts for keen wildlife watchers, slower days for families and older travellers.
- Your people only: no strangers in the vehicle, at the table or on the itinerary.
- One point of contact: a single Nairobi team handles vehicles, camps, park fees, transfers and special requests.
- Shared costs: group size helps spread the cost of vehicles and guiding across more travellers.
Who we plan private group safaris for
Every group is different, so we start by understanding who is travelling and why. These are the groups we plan for most often.
Families and multigenerational groups
Grandparents, parents and children together, with family rooms, shorter drives, child-friendly camps and a relaxed rhythm. See our Kenya family safari packages.
Friends travelling together
A long-planned reunion or a bucket-list trip with your closest friends, with sundowners, campfire evenings and plenty of time for wildlife.
Celebrations
Milestone birthdays, anniversaries, vow renewals and wedding parties, with private bush dinners and surprises arranged quietly in advance.
Corporate teams and incentives
Reward trips, leadership retreats and team journeys, with clear logistics and invoicing. Read how we plan Kenya incentive travel.
Clubs, faith and alumni groups
Photography clubs, church and community groups, university alumni and special-interest groups who want a trip shaped around a shared passion.
Know roughly who is coming and when? That is all we need to start shaping your group’s safari.
Request Group Safari RatesHow your group travels: vehicles, guides and a tour leader
Game viewing is only as good as the vehicle you see it from. Our safari fleet is made up of private 4×4 Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs, reclining seats and charging ports, so everyone can stand, look out and photograph in comfort. For a larger group we run several vehicles together as a small convoy, each with its own professional driver-guide, and we plan the seating so that nobody spends the trip squeezed in a corner.
Your guides are Kenyan professionals who know the parks, the animal behaviour and the camps. They stay in radio contact, share sightings between vehicles and adapt each drive to the group. On our group quotations we also include a tour leader free of charge, one person who looks after the whole group from start to finish, so the organiser can relax and enjoy the trip too.
For bigger groups, conferences and complex programmes, our guide to Kenya group ground handling explains how we manage arrivals at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, rooming lists, meals and timings.
Where to go on a private group safari in Kenya
Kenya offers more variety than most groups can fit into one trip. These are the places our groups love most, and we combine them to suit your time and interests.
- Masai Mara: big cats, vast open plains and, in season, the Great Migration. The highlight of almost every group safari.
- Amboseli: large elephant herds with Mount Kilimanjaro rising behind them, a favourite with photographers.
- Lake Nakuru: black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes and lakeside birdlife.
- Lake Naivasha: boat rides among hippos and a gentle break between longer drives, ideal for families.
- Samburu: the dry, dramatic north, home to species rarely seen further south.
- Ol Pejeta Conservancy: rhino conservation up close, with activities that work well for curious children and adults alike.
- Diani Beach: warm Indian Ocean water and white sand for a relaxed finish after the safari.

Group safari route ideas to start the conversation
Every route below is a starting point, not a fixed package. We change the parks, nights and camps to fit your group, then send an itemised written quote.
Short and spectacular: Masai Mara and Lake Naivasha
A compact trip of four or five days for groups short on time. Two or three nights in the Masai Mara for full days of game drives, followed by a night at Lake Naivasha with a boat ride before returning to Nairobi.
Classic Kenya: Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and the Mara
A week that shows the best of Kenya: elephants beneath Kilimanjaro, rhinos at Lake Nakuru and big cats in the Masai Mara. It is our most requested shape for first-time groups. Browse more ideas in our Kenya safari packages.
Bush and beach, or Kenya and Tanzania
Ten days or more for groups who want it all: a safari circuit followed by Diani Beach or Zanzibar, or a cross-border journey adding the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. See our bush and beach safaris and Kenya and Tanzania safari packages.
Best time for a group safari in Kenya
Kenya is a year-round safari destination, so the best time depends on what your group wants to see and when everyone is free.
- July to October: dry season and the Great Migration in the Masai Mara. The most popular months, so groups should book early to secure enough rooms in the same camp. Our Great Migration safari page explains the timing.
- January to February: warm, dry and excellent for general game viewing, with good camp availability.
- November to December: short rains, green landscapes and the festive holidays, a favourite for family groups.
- March to May: the long rains. Quieter parks and lower camp rates, though some roads and camps are affected.
For groups, the deciding factor is often room availability rather than weather. Securing several rooms or tents in one camp takes more notice than booking for a couple, so we recommend starting your enquiry as early as you can.
How private group safari pricing works
We do not publish a single group price, because no two groups are the same. Your quote is built from the real costs of your trip, and we itemise it so you can see exactly what you are paying for. These are the main factors:
- Group size: vehicle and guiding costs are shared across the group, so the per-person cost of transport usually falls as the group grows.
- Accommodation level: we quote two options as standard, Midrange 3-star and Standard Luxury 4-star, and can add premium camps on request.
- Season: camp rates and some park fees change through the year.
- Park and conservancy fees: these are charged per person, per day, by the park authorities and conservancies.
- Number of nights and parks: more parks mean more driving days, while longer stays in fewer places often give better value.
- Extras: flights between parks, balloon flights, private dinners and celebration touches.

Practical tips for group organisers
Organising a trip for many people is easier with a few early decisions. Agree a rough budget range with the group before you ask for a quote, as it decides the camps we suggest. Collect children’s ages early, since they affect park fees and which camps can host the family. Share dietary needs and any mobility concerns up front so we can plan meals, rooms and vehicle access properly.
Every traveller should check entry requirements before booking flights. Most visitors to Kenya need an approved electronic travel authorisation from the official Kenya eTA portal, as well as Kenya’s mandatory travel health insurance. Before you book, we brief your group on the current official travel advice for your route and confirm every arrangement in writing. Our Kenya safari FAQs answer many of the questions your group is likely to ask.
Private group safari Kenya: common questions
How many people make a private group safari?
Any group that travels together on its own private arrangements counts, from a family of four to a large company team. For bigger groups we use several Land Cruisers, each with its own driver-guide.
Is a private group safari in Kenya more expensive than a shared tour?
Not necessarily. Vehicle and guiding costs are shared across your group, so the larger the group, the more those costs are spread. We send an itemised quote so you can compare clearly.
Can different members of the group stay in different room types?
Yes. We can mix room types, such as family rooms, doubles and singles, within the same camp, subject to availability.
Can you arrange a celebration during the safari?
Yes. Tell us about the occasion and we can arrange touches such as a private bush dinner, a cake or a sundowner, subject to the camp.
How far ahead should a group book?
As early as possible, especially for July to October. Securing several rooms in the same camp needs more notice than booking for two travellers.
Do you include a tour leader?
Yes. Our group quotations include a tour leader free of charge, who looks after the group throughout the trip.
What do travellers need to enter Kenya?
Most visitors need an approved Kenya eTA from the official portal at etakenya.go.ke and Kenya’s mandatory travel health insurance, which costs USD 44 per traveller. Each child needs their own policy, and a home policy cannot be used instead.
Bring everyone. We will handle the rest.
