Safari Rally Kenya 2027: Your Guide for Teams, Delegations and Fans

Sunset over Mount Longonot near Naivasha, Kenya

Safari Rally Kenya 2027 returns to the World Rally Championship calendar from 18 to 21 March 2027, with Naivasha as its home. For teams, sponsors, media and fans, it is one of the few rounds of the season where the rally can be combined with a real African safari. This guide explains what is confirmed, what to plan for, and how Sense of Adventure can handle the ground arrangements.

What is confirmed, and what is not yet

The dates and the Naivasha base have been confirmed publicly, and President William Ruto welcomed the rally’s place on the 2027 calendar. At the time of writing, the 2027 service park, stage route, spectator zones, ticketing and fan programme have not been published. Reports on the 2026 edition describe designated viewing areas on the Saturday stages, an open shakedown on Thursday morning, and a Rally Village with sponsor displays and driver autograph sessions. We will update this page as soon as the organisers release the 2027 details.

That is why the smartest move today is to secure rooms and transfers early, then fine-tune once the route is announced.

For teams, delegations and corporate guests

A rally is a logistics operation. Reports on the 2021 edition noted that each driver and co-driver travels with a crew of at least 20 people, and that the three- and four-star hotels around Naivasha were fully booked well ahead of the event. Plan for the same pressure on rooms in 2027.

As a Nairobi-based licensed tour operator and destination management company, we can take care of:

  • Accommodation blocks in Naivasha, Lake Naivasha and nearby conservancies, with flexible room allocations for crews, sponsors and VIP guests.
  • Airport and road transfers from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi to Naivasha, for individuals or whole delegations.
  • Private vehicles and guides with 4×4 Land Cruisers, pop-up roofs and charging ports, for hosted hospitality days.
  • Group dining, bush breakfasts and sundowners for client entertainment around the event.
  • Post-rally incentives such as a Masai Mara or Amboseli safari for staff, partners and guests.
  • Single point of contact for itineraries, invoices and changes, so your team can focus on the competition.

If you are organising a corporate or sponsor programme, see our Kenya lodges and camps and our Kenya safaris from Nairobi guide to understand what is within easy reach.

For fans: watch the rally, then see the wild

The Safari Rally has been the toughest event on the calendar since it first ran in 1953, and Naivasha adds scenery that few rounds can match: open plains, volcanic hills and Lake Naivasha on the doorstep. Fans who travel for the action usually want three things: a good vantage point, a comfortable bed within reach of the stages, and something memorable to do before or after.

  • Fly into Nairobi and transfer to Naivasha by private vehicle, usually on the same day.
  • Stay near the action in Naivasha or around the lake, and book early, as rooms fill for every edition.
  • Watch safely. Past organisers have asked spectators to stay in marked zones, stand behind barriers and avoid the outside of bends. Following marshals keeps stages running.
  • Add a safari. Many fans extend to the Masai Mara or Amboseli, where elephants cross the plains beneath Kilimanjaro.

Sample ways to build your trip

These are outlines we can price and adapt once the rally schedule is published:

  • Rally weekend: airport pickup, 3 nights around Naivasha, guided viewing days, return transfer.
  • Rally plus Mara: the rally weekend followed by 3 nights in the Masai Mara with game drives and an optional balloon flight.
  • Rally plus Amboseli: the rally weekend followed by 2 nights in Amboseli for elephants and Kilimanjaro views.
  • Rally plus coast: rally and safari, then a few days of rest in Diani. See our Kenya beach holiday guide.
