Girls’ Trip Safari & Beach – Masai Mara & Diani (7 Days)

7 Days

A girls trip safari is the best way to give a group of friends adventure and relaxation in the same week. This seven-day journey starts with three nights in the Masai Mara, with game drives, an optional sunrise balloon flight and sundowners, then flies you to Diani Beach for three nights of sun, spa time and a dhow trip to see dolphins. Everything is private and handled by our team, with women-friendly camps and hotels, trusted guides and 24/7 support, and the price starts from USD 2,100 per adult sharing.

Why Choose a Girls Trip Safari?

Friends travel differently from couples or families. You want shared experiences, time to talk, a few special evenings and enough freedom for everyone to do what they enjoy. A girls trip safari builds all of that into the itinerary, with game drives and bush sundowners to bring the group together and a beach finale for rest, spa treatments and long lunches.

The trip works for birthdays, hen parties, reunions and milestone celebrations. Because the whole route is private and arranged by one team, you do not need to organise flights, transfers or park fees yourselves. You arrive, enjoy the experience and leave the logistics to us.

  • Safari and beach in one week: three nights in the Mara and three on Diani Beach.
  • Group-friendly: private vehicles and rooms reserved together in one camp and one hotel.
  • Celebration-ready: add a cake, decorations, a private bush dinner or a beach dinner.
  • Support you can rely on: trusted guides and a local contact available 24/7.
  • Time to relax: spa treatments, kitesurfing lessons and a dhow trip on the coast.

Girls Trip Safari Route at a Glance

  • Day 1: Fly from Nairobi to the Masai Mara
  • Days 2 to 3: Masai Mara game drives and sundowners
  • Day 4: Fly to Diani Beach
  • Day 5: Free day at Diani Beach
  • Day 6: Kisite dolphin tour
  • Day 7: Departure from Ukunda or Mombasa

Day-by-Day Girls Trip Safari Itinerary

Days 1 to 3: The Masai Mara

Day 1, Nairobi to the Masai Mara. Fly from Wilson Airport to the Mara. Your first afternoon game drive begins soon after you arrive, and the day ends with a welcome sundowner as the sun sets over the plains.

Day 2, a full day in the Mara. A full day of game drives with a picnic lunch, looking for lions, cheetahs and elephants. With experienced guides, you can take your time at each sighting and stay for as long as the group likes. Our Masai Mara safari page explains the reserve in more detail.

Day 3, balloon flight, village visit and sundowner. An optional sunrise balloon flight opens the day, followed by a Maasai village visit. In the evening you head to a bush spot for a sundowner with drinks. It is the social highlight of the safari.

Days 4 to 7: Diani Beach

Day 4, fly to Diani Beach. Fly from the Mara to Ukunda (Diani), usually via Nairobi, and check in at your beach hotel. The afternoon is free for the beach.

Day 5, a free day. Spend the day on the beach, book spa treatments or try kitesurfing lessons. Nothing is scheduled, so you can sleep in and set your own pace.

Day 6, Kisite dolphin tour. A dhow trip to Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park for snorkelling and dolphins, with a Swahili seafood lunch on Wasini Island. The group returns to the hotel in the afternoon for a final evening on the beach.

Day 7, departure. Transfer to Ukunda or Mombasa airport for your flight home or back to Nairobi.

Is a Girls Trip Safari Safe?

Safety is the first question groups of friends ask, and it is a fair one. Travelling with a reputable operator makes a real difference. We use trusted camps, hotels and guides, arrange all transfers and give you a local contact available 24/7. Your itinerary is private, so you are never mixed with strangers in a shared minibus, and you always know who is meeting you and when.

Sensible habits help as well. Keep valuables in the camp or hotel safe, follow your guide’s instructions during game drives and stay in the vehicle unless told otherwise. Check your government’s current travel advice before you book, and share your itinerary with family at home.

Wildlife and Beach Activities on a Girls Trip Safari

The Masai Mara: big cats and open plains

The Mara has one of Kenya’s highest concentrations of predators. Lions are common, cheetahs hunt on the open plains and leopards rest in riverside trees. Elephants, giraffes and zebras are easy to find, and between July and October wildebeest and zebra arrive during the Great Migration. A full day with a picnic lunch lets you explore at an easy pace.

Diani Beach: spa, water sports and dolphins

Diani has long white sands and warm water. The free day can be as active or as lazy as you like, with spa treatments, kitesurfing lessons or simply a sun lounger. The Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park trip adds snorkelling and the chance to see dolphins, and lunch on Wasini Island features Swahili seafood. Our beach experiences page has more ideas for the coast.

Celebrating on a Girls Trip Safari

Many groups book this trip for a celebration. We can add a cake, decorations, a private bush dinner or a beach dinner. Tell us what you are celebrating when you enquire, whether it is a birthday, a hen party or a reunion, and we will pass the details on to the camp and the hotel. Groups of 4 to 12 work best, and we can reserve rooms together in one camp and hotel. Larger groups are possible with early booking.

Accommodation and Pace

You spend three nights in a tented camp in the Mara on a full-board basis, and three nights at a Diani beach hotel on a half-board basis. Both are chosen to be women-friendly, with good service and a safe, welcoming atmosphere. Safari days start early and include a rest at midday, while coast days are unscheduled. Browse our Kenya lodges and camps to see the style of accommodation we use.

Best Time for a Girls Trip Safari

The trip works all year. The Mara has game viewing in every month, and Diani is warm throughout, so you can choose your dates around birthdays and holidays.

  • January to March: hot, dry weather with good game viewing and warm sea.
  • April to May: the long rains. Landscapes are green, prices are lower and some roads are muddy.
  • June to October: the dry season, with the Great Migration in the Mara from about July to October.
  • November to December: short rains, lush scenery and busy festive weeks.

How Much Does a Girls Trip Safari Cost?

This girls trip safari starts from USD 2,100 per adult sharing. The final price depends on the season, the accommodation and your group size. The package includes the flights between Nairobi, the Mara and Diani, so there are fewer extras to budget for. For a wider guide, see how much an African safari costs.

What Is Included and Not Included

  • Flights Nairobi to Masai Mara to Diani
  • 3 nights in a tented camp, full board
  • 3 nights at a Diani beach hotel, half board
  • Game drives with experienced guides
  • Kisite dolphin tour with lunch
  • Park and marine park fees
  • All transfers

Not included: international flights, the Kenya eTA (about USD 30 per person), travel insurance, tips and gratuities, drinks, personal expenses and optional activities not listed as included.

Photography on a Girls Trip Safari

This trip is full of moments worth photographing together. In the Mara, the golden light at sunrise and sunset is ideal for wildlife, and a zoom lens of 200 to 400 mm gets you close to lions and elephants. On the coast, a phone or compact camera is enough for beach portraits and dhow trips. Ask your guide to take a group photo in front of the plains, and bring a spare battery, because the bush days are long.

What to Pack for a Girls Trip Safari

  • Lightweight neutral clothing in khaki, olive or beige for the Mara, plus a warm layer for early mornings.
  • Swimwear, a cover-up, sandals and a sun hat for Diani.
  • High-factor sunscreen, sunglasses and insect repellent.
  • A smart casual outfit for the group dinner.
  • Binoculars and a camera with spare batteries.
  • A soft-sided bag, because light aircraft usually allow 15 kg per person including hand luggage.
  • Any malaria prevention recommended by your doctor.

Practical Information for Your Girls Trip Safari

Most visitors need a Kenya eTA before arrival, so apply online ahead of your trip and check current requirements for your nationality. Malaria is present in much of Kenya, so speak to your doctor about prevention, and take out travel insurance that covers medical evacuation. Kenya’s currency is the Kenyan shilling, US dollars are accepted at many camps and hotels and tips are not included in the price. Kenya uses the three-pin UK-style plug at 240 volts, and Kenya is three hours ahead of UTC. Mobile coverage is patchy in the bush, so you may enjoy a few days offline. For official information, see Magical Kenya and the Kenya Wildlife Service.
